What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I would choose Thomas Frank, just give him a decent wage hike and a few quid on a couple of players in the January window

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Tuchel taking the Bayern gig was a no-brainer.

There was talk of him taking over at Barca or Real Madrid, and he was learning Spanish. But there is a good chance neither Spanish club will shove their managers (Xavi and Ancelotti) this summer. And Bayern are the sixth biggest club in the world by revenues - by far the biggest German side (by almost $300m a year).

He wasn't going to turn them down.

Nagelsmann is an interesting character, isn't he? Old Skool players often seem to dislike him. He's a bit of an incessant tinkerman - even during games - and sometimes makes several big tactical adjustments over the course of one half. One Bayern fan on Twitter claimed (dunno how accurately) that the boss once used six separate formations during a key game this fan attended. Including a major change just five minutes into the second half - after he'd already fundamentally changed the team at half-time.

He seems to be the antithesis of Moyes!

As a player, I can understand why you might find that really frustrating, though, in the same way that not having a Plan B annoys us about Moyes. No certainty/consistency and you'd wonder that your boss will totally panic if you go a goal down etc.

I can imagine players groomed on that whole data approach would get on better with him.

He'd probably do well at a club that backed him in the transfer market so that he could bring in players with his mentality and discipline. Could see him epically falling out with some of our lot!

LOL. Yeah, but you get the point.

Bit of a stretch to compare lewandowski to West Ham squad

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I heard it was mainly about some players not liking his tactics. Apparently even last year, Lewandowski got the hump at being told where to stand to attack corners and said to him, "I've scored 41 goals in a season. What have you ever done?" I mentioned this earlier about Will Still: young managers with no playing pedigree or trophies under their belt are not going to get the same level of respect from veteran and top quality players.

Fabrizio Romano who broke the story said part of it was player development.

Which I can see. They have some of the world's best young defenders - Davies (why I watch them), Upamecano, De Ligt etc. but they have not progressed as defender. Some of them keep making errors. Even without Lewandoski, they are still scoring goals. But all of that is at least down to a swashbuckling style and an improving Bundesliga.

Big expectations if you always win the league.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
The claret and booze YouTube raised a decent counter argument for Moyes staying for championship

If we go down the fans will rightly be angry with board for not getting rid of Moyes earlier, Sullivan will want the heat off him so surely throws Moyes under the bus and sacks him to take eyes off him

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
I think are hopes for a new manager are a futile pursuit. He’s going to stink the place out for this season.

At this point, I really feel he’s taking us down. He has not adjusted to the changes in the Premiership and generally of the last 10 or so years. He has not assembled a squad to cope with the demands for running, pressing and technique and made so much worse because he still uses tactics and coaching methods from a bygone era. Imo.

We all go down and struggle to get straight back up as tge Championship has also changed with high tempo, attacking wing backs and relentless pressing being the order of the day.

I expect him to go 10-15 games in next season when we sit 7th or 8th in the championship.

Hope I’m totally wrong but have seen nothing that shows progression in how we play for 14-18 months :-(

I'm sure you're right, Fonz. It's like how Poch got the PSG job despite having a terrible final year at Spurs. Having a Champs League final in your CV does wonders.

I do not know enough about Nagelsmann but maybe their owners want to win the Champs League which Tuchel has done.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Realistically if we don't get a minimum of four points from the Saints and barcode games we will be well and truly staring down the barrel and any enforced managerial change will be short term and smack of desperation so Big Sam would be well and truly in the frame.
Long term the quality of candidate we can attract will obviously depend on which division we are in.
Relegation would be down to pure negligence by not firing Moyes earlier and thus not having any plan B.

Nagelsman to spurs then?

Read a few tweets from Bayern fans, sounds like player egos didn’t like nagelsman’s level of constant detail

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Just seen that about Nagelsmann being sacked by Bayern Munich. Seems a bit weird. They've dominated the Champions League so far this season, beating PSG, Inter and Barcelona home and away. OK, they lost at the weekend and are now a point behind Dortmund in the Bundesliga, but they play them at home next week so will probably regain the top spot. Weird as well that they've replaced him with Tuchel, a bloke who's had terrible relations with every CEO he's worked with and doesn't get on well with the players either. There's a reason he keeps getting sacked after a couple of years.

Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Carrick still lives in Cheshire, so the north east factor doesn't come into it really, except that London would be a longer journey by about 40-50 miles.

Doesn't mean much of anything, but here's what he said a couple of weeks back about being linked with us:

“I started at West Ham as a young boy and it’s a fantastic football club, but I know David well, played under him and have huge respect for him. I think for me to comment on anything would be hugely unfair, and I wouldn’t do that.

"What I will say is that I hope they have a fantastic end to the season with David and the club because it’s a fantastic place and David is a good man. I really wish them all the success.”

Manuel 3:29 Fri Mar 24
Re: What manager would you choose to replace Moyes?
Agree with diehard ref Carrick, if he gets Boro promoted I don't see him walking out on them, or at leas not to come to us, but I don't think it will be because he doesn't want to move away from his mum and missus, lol.

Nagelsmann has just been sacked by Bayern. I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to manage us.

Yeah bit of a strange comment. It might make it more difficult but doesn’t mean it’s 100% no chance.
